Candlewood Suites in The Woodlands receives mixed reviews, with recent renovations improving the appearance but not addressing underlying issues. Guests appreciate the spacious rooms, kitchen facilities, and convenient location near hospitals and restaurants, but have reported cleanliness concerns, staff issues including rudeness and lack of responsiveness, and unresolved maintenance problems like malfunctioning appliances, mold, and pest infestations. Value is generally considered decent, but inconsistent experiences impact overall satisfaction.
The room was really spacious. My room had a very open floor plan and dove branded bath stuff available. I really enjoyed that the room came with silverware and plates for you to use. Check in and out was a breeze. The price is great compared to other hotels that have a separate room with a door. I would have loved to have breakfast included. But even wi th out free breakfast I loved my stay. Everything was also very clean.
Some family members and I stayed here while in town for the weekend to attend a wedding. Our first experience was checking in. The young lady at the front desk was not so nice. We booked 2 king rooms and a double queen. We got one king room and 2 double beds and was told when you book through a third party( Priceline) you get what’s available. So we said ok only to get to the room and it wreaked of mildew/mold. My mother who has bad asthma could barely breathe in there. There also wasn’t any remotes to the TV. When mentioning it to the lady at the front desk she said they didn’t have any remotes and were all booked, gave some air freshener and sent her on her way. Thankfully the next morning there was a young lady that was more willing to get my mother in a new King bed room with no smell. Overall the hotel is decent. The rooms are nice. I had no complaints with my room besides the remotes were there but not working and the fact that there were roaches popping up here and there. In which I seen in previous reviews of this hotel and hoped I didn’t experience it but nope they were there! My other family members also said they seen a couple in their rooms as well.
This is the worse hotel I’ve ever stayed in. My room had a plug without a cover over it. The dishwasher looked like it didn’t fit with the metal lining on the top sticking out the the top. The stovetop didn’t work. The shampoo/ conditioner holder broken and barely holding them place. The outlet in the bathroom is inaccessible to use so good luck drying your hair in the mirror. I was supposed to bring my toddler but I’m glad he stayed home cause I didn’t feel safe if he was in that room. I filed a compliant with compliant with IGH customer service the morning after check in and was told the property would be aware. I was not contacted to address my compliant. I unfortunately had to stay my 2 nights. The cost of the room is not worth what I payed for. I will never stay in this property or a Candlewood again.
Room had terrible smell when we entered. Shower door malfunctioned. Rolled open on its own while showering. Bathroom sink had serious drainage issues. No holder for toilet paper. Public men’s toilet near lobby was filthy. Pretty run down place. Would not go back.
Love Candlewood normally, but this location in The Woodlands did a makeover from my last visit. The hotel looks great, however, they stock the kitchen with nice dinner plates, bowls, silverware, a place to call home away from home. Right, WRONG. It may be a me thing but to put two pots, tea kettle, coffee maker, dishwasher, dish supplies such as liquid dish washing soap, and for the dishwasher. BUT NO PAN, how am I supposed to make my eggs, or anything else I could use a skillet for....i.e. meats. I did ask the front desk and she could care less about what my needs were. I was dismissed with I really don't know what's in the rooms. Sad, she couldn't cared less. Oh, the room i got had a sour smell, normally this is when there is carpet on the floor. As I stated earlier, the hotel had been renovated and no carpet remains. This hotel has a great chance of being a five star, but you must have people working for you who cares about the guest as well as the hotel. The hotel otherwise is clean, great location and decent price.
This summer I was 8 months pregnant and the AC went out in our apartment. We stayed here as it is near our house, and looked nice. I was amazed at the clean and comfortable room. It was so spacious, included a kitchen complete with full sized fridge, coffee maker, kitchen sink, and beautiful bathroom too! Couldn’t recommend this place hard enough.
I'm not sure why the keys won't work consistently, but its extremely inconvenient. Reasonably quiet, not a real convenient location given how much traffic has increased in the area, good pressure on shower, which is always a plus. Staff is friendly and responsive.
Terrible customer service. Gave my Sister, niece, and my mom room away that was already paid for for multiple days and will not refund. Receptionist hung up the phone “it’s fine” she wanted the bad review. They don’t communicate when it comes to reservations that have been FULLY paid for. Now they are out a room and money. Coming all the way from Ohio.
I stayed at this hotel last night July 20-21 and I will never make that mistake again. The only thing that was okay about this room was the location. I arrived to check in I waited at the counter for almost 21 minutes( check camera). I called the front desk while standing there three times before the lady finally came out. She went to answer the phone I said it was me calling to get your attention. She laughed but i did not did. It funny. She checked me in have me key card to room 315. I parked and went to the room. Needless to say I was in an out so quick there were a plethora of roaches on the counter. Immediately left out the room and when back down stairs. Let the front desk know she said they had no other rooms she would have it cleaned. I said an absolutely not. She then changed me to room 416. There were no roaches but the room was definitely not clean. The cover and sheets on the bed were damp. I’m assuming it’s from how humid it was in the room. This was the most uncomfortable stay. I will not be returning ever. I have called a couple of times to speak with a manager but advised to try after 3
Couldn’t ask for a better location! The hotel was spotless, the front desk was helpful, and I loved having the mall and great restaurants just minutes away. Perfect for any kind of trip—business, medical, or just relaxing. Right by the hospital, close to the mall, and surrounded by food. Staff and housekeeping were top-notch too!
