The Courtyard by Marriott Woodlands offers a decent location near shopping and dining but faces significant reliability issues, particularly regarding room security and maintenance. Recent reviews highlight troubling incidents including unauthorized room access, elevator outages, and inconsistent service standards. While some guests praise the staff, numerous concerns regarding safety, cleanliness, and functional amenities warrant serious attention.
Location is good for the Woodlands area with plenty of great food options, shopping/retail stores and plenty of trees for more privacy and better temperatures. The staff & service was great. Everyone I encountered was very nice and eager to assist with my stay. Unfortunately, the air conditioning in the room was not good at all. Outdated wall ac unit that never really got the room cold. Even at it's lowest setting. Additionally, it kept clicking on and off about every 15 minutes the entire night. Because of this, I didn't sleep well at all either night. I would consider other options in the area first, unless the air conditioning is fixed.
Stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott Houston The Woodlands and experienced a serious and unacceptable safety failure that was handled with complete indifference. After checking in, I went to my room and shortly after getting settled, another guest was able to unlock and walk directly into my room while I was completely undressed. The front desk had issued a second key to an already occupied room - my room. Let’s be clear, this is not a “simple mistake.” This is a major breach of guest safety and privacy. This is the kind of error that puts people in genuinely vulnerable and potentially dangerous situations. What made this even worse was the response from staff. I was told it was “a simple mistake” and that if I wanted to speak to a manager, I would need to call back on Monday. No urgency, no escalation, no accountability, and no attempt to make the situation right in the moment. Just a shrug and a deflection. To pile on, the elevator was also out of service, adding unnecessary inconvenience on top of an already unacceptable experience. At a minimum, this situation should have triggered immediate management involvement, a formal incident response, and a serious effort to ensure guest safety moving forward. Instead, it was brushed off like it was nothing. This property has a clear breakdown in basic operational controls, from room assignment and key security to guest incident handling. Until that is addressed, I would strongly caution others when considering a stay here. **UPDATE 04/30/2026** It took Guest Services nearly a full week to respond to my concern about my room being accessed by a different guest. The General Manager of the property never once attempted to make contact with me despite leaving a message requesting contact about the situation. All that the guest services team did was send a very generic template message with a very generic apology wishing me fun travels in the future. Very disappointed in the way this was handled. The Marriott family of hotels used to set the benchmark for the hospitality industry - these standards have certainly fallen. The violation of my privacy was documented also by the person who was given access to my room in his review of the property. **
Business Traveler Review (3–4 Star U.S. Hotels) Hotel Type: Business Stayed: 6 nights Room Type: Guest King Business Traveler Score: 30 / 50 Barely Acceptable Work Setup: 4 /5 WiFi: 1 /5 Noise: 2 /5 Bed Comfort: 4 /5 Food Nearby: 3 /5 Check-in: 4 /5 Parking: 4 /5 Room Condition: 3 /5 Shower: 3 /5 Value: 2 /5 Score Meaning: 45–50 ? Excellent business hotel 38–44 ? Reliable repeat stay 30–37 ? Acceptable Under 30 ? Avoid Pros: • Good location. • Easy access to I - 45 • WiFi is free (see the con below) • Parking is onsite. It is well lit and clean. It is not secured though so use normal precautions. Cons: • I had a lot of trouble getting the WiFi to work. I think you may have to join BonVoy to get it free as well. But joining BonVoy is free and gets you points for future stays. So, I don't think that should be an issue. The WiFi not working, was an issue. I always have my WiFi with me for just these situations. • I also had trouble with getting my room serviced. I'm used to every other day at Courtyard, but they said that they did it every day. That was not the case. I had to frequently ask the staff for towels as my room was serviced only once that I could tell. • The elevator was out of order. This apparently was not new for them. You will need to carry your luggage up / down the stairs. They said "going down sometimes works". I didn't take the chance. • The pool is confusing. Their description says that they have a pool but it is crossed out in the amenities. Best I could figure out was that you have access to the pool next door at the Residence Inn. If a pool is a requirement for your stay, I would recommend speaking with the front desk to clarify this situation. • A little noisy from the I - 45 almost next door. It gets you easy access but you have to deal with traffic noise. Business Traveler Verdict: Not really a good Business traveler hotel. Lugging your luggage up and down stairs is not fun and some travelers may have physical limitations for this. The WiFi was a huge issue for me but I did bring my own to save the day. The pool thing, I think, is a little misleading. Just my opinion. I was also disappointed in the service. I really expected more from a Courtyard by Marriott. It gets a 30/50. Acceptable, but just barely. Let's call this one borderline. Room Tip: With I - 45 so close, I'm not sure any room is safe from noise, but if you can request on with windows facing away from the highway, you may minimize the noise. Be sure to do this. If stairs may be an issue with your physical condition, you will definitely want to make sure the elevators are working. Would I stay again? No. I like Courtyard, but this one needs some help.
The rooms were nice, comfortable, the hotel was easy to get to and looked pleasant from the outside. The service was horrendous however as I went to check in. Everything seemed fine at first but after I checked in a walked upstairs (elevators were broken throughout the stay) and entered my room only to find somebody already in the room naked. This could have been incredibly dangerous for myself and the guest who was already in the room they gave to me. When I went back downstairs to figure it out the lady working at the desk just said “I’ve been doing this a long time, I don’t make mistakes.” Even up until figuring out what happened she never once apologized even just for the inconvenience all she said was “I still think someone else messed up so I need to check all of that” before dismissing me with new keys to a new room. I am incredibly disappointed and hope somebody will make this right.
Surprised to find no fridge in my room. The shower glass door slides open every time, and AC is a wall unit. The elevator was out of order so I had to carry my luggage down the stairs. The ice machine was out of order the same day.
I’m extremely disappointed with my stay at this Courtyard by Marriott. One of the main reasons we booked this hotel was because it was advertised as having a pool, but the reality was very misleading. To access the pool, we were told we had to go to a completely different building, which was never mentioned in the listing or at booking. This felt like false advertising. On top of that, the sheets in our room were dirty, which is unacceptable and made us feel uncomfortable staying there. We have also been trying repeatedly to get in contact with the manager to address these issues, but every time we ask, the manager is “not available” or “not there.” The lack of transparency, cleanliness, and accountability made this a very frustrating experience. I expected much better from a Marriott property.
Every staff member I encountered at this hotel was beyond exceptional. They went above and beyond for each patron that stayed here. Starting with Sonya, Eva & Donald, they all left me with a memorable experience and created a lifetime customer.
Decent stay, rooms could be a bit bigger. Breakfast options felt more expensive than they should be. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Spend your money on the Hilton Garden Inn down the road. When we arrived at our room there were sticky notes across the hall talking about very inappropriate s*xual content. It smelled liked weed. There was car break in that morning and the entire broken window was still in the parking lot. The room was dirty with drink stains on the counter and prescription eye drops on the floor. We did not stay, asked for refund and will be disputing the charge. When we kindly told the attendant she said “good luck finding another hotel. We had already booked at the Hilton.
Great hotel and great location, but most of all… Eva, the bartender was absolutely wonderful! She was not only kind, warm, friendly, professional and hard working but she was also incredible at mixing up awesome cocktails for my girlfriends and I. After a cancelled concert nearby foiled our plans, Eva was able to turn our evening into one of the best times ever!! What a doll! We’d definitely book here again just to able to thank her again! Courtyard by Marriott is so blessed to have her!
